The Fieldland drawing series is an abstract body of work inspired by fields and farmlands. Through the depiction of grain fields, the artist seeks to evoke the idea of cyclicality while reflecting on existential questions. Themes of growth, wandering through unknown thickets, harvest, decay, and rebirth from ashes emerge throughout the drawings. The somber tone provided by charcoal, along with the dominant greyness of the landscapes, directs attention to the meaning and value of the entire cycle. The artist also experiments with the concept of the horizon, which is at times concealed and at others extends into infinity. Working with a limited number of visual elements, the artist places emphasis on conceptual depth and open interpretation.
